The domestic olive oil business shows such potential that Cortopassi Partners plans to increase production to 12 times more than it currently does at its plant southeast of Lodi.
The San Joaquin County Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing tonight on Cortopassi’s use permit application to expand its plant. If approved, Cortopassi will increase its production from 50,000 gallons to 600,000 gallons during the next 10 years.
The plant would produce olive oil about 40 days during the harvesting season each year, according to a staff report from the county’s community development department. Olives will not be canned there
