Stella Cadente Wins Best of Show at Oils of the World Competition

Stella Cadente Olive Oil Company announced today that they have been awarded the Best of Show at the 67th Los Angeles County Fair, Oils of the World Competition, for their Italian extra virgin olive oil in the ‘light’ category. The Los Angeles County Fair had more than 400 extra virgin olive oils submitted for judging and is now the most prestigious and largest event of its kind in the world. The judging takes place in mid-May along with the Wines of the World Competition.

Stella Cadente is the only California producer to have won this prestigious award twice in the history of the olive oil competition. As well as being honored with Best of Show, Stella Cadente also won a Gold Medal and “Best of Class” in the same category, and a Gold Medal for their Meyer Lemon Oil.

“Stella Cadente winning the Best of Show at the Oils of the World Competition is equivalent to winning Best Picture at the Academy Awards twice! They know how to transform the best fruit into fantastic oils and I’m a devoted fan,” said John Ash, the well known California-based chef and author.

Stella Cadente is renowned for producing award-winning olive oils and they have won more awards for their oils than any other California producer — including “1 of the Top 35 Oils in the World” from Der Feinschmecker, Germany, #1 Extra Virgin Olive Oil by Slowfood, Italia, and numerous gold and silver medals. “There are a few secrets to producing a phenomenal product,” said Tom Hunter, Co-Owner. “To create the right balance so that the bitterness of the olives doesn’t overwhelm the fruit is the goal and it takes a lot of ingenuity and practice.”

Stella Cadente is an artisan producer in Anderson Valley, Northern California. They produce 4 award winning oils — L’Autunno Extra Virgin, Meyer Lemon, Blood Orange and Persian Lime. Their Italian olives used in their L’Autunno Extra Virgin are estate grown, pesticide/herbicide free and hand-picked. Next they are crushed on a stone crusher which produces a smooth, silky oil with high concentrations of polyphenols and an herbal fruitiness that makes an incredible accompaniment with all foods. Their oils have been featured on the Food Network and PBS Wine Roads.
